Questions to Ask Before You Buy a Ute Tray

Ask any builder these. A good one will answer straight away. If they dodge or waffle, that is your red flag.

    The Honest Bit

Cheap quotes hide in the detail

Two quotes can look thousands apart and be describing completely different builds. The gap is usually in material grade, hardware, tie-down structure and whether fitting is included.

None of that is visible in a photo. It shows up three years later when the fasteners rust or a mount cracks.

Ask the questions below of whoever you are talking to, including us. Make a smart choice, whoever you go with.

    The Checklist

    Ten questions worth asking

    • What grade and gauge of aluminium is the deck?
    • What are the fasteners and hinges made of?
    • What is the tare weight, and what payload does that leave me?
    • Is fitting included in the quoted price?
    • What exactly does the warranty cover, and for how long?
    • Which parts are bought in and run on someone else’s warranty?
    • Who actually builds it, and where?
    • What is the lead time from deposit, and what happens if it slips?
    • Can I see a build you did three years ago, not three weeks ago?
    • Can the tray be transferred to my next ute, and are there limitations?

    FAQ

    Buying questions

How do I compare two ute tray quotes?

Line them up on material grade, hardware, tie-down structure, fitting and warranty. Price only means something once those match.

    What warranty should I expect?

Backed by a lifetime warranty on all workmanship completed by us here at Camesco. Externally sourced parts are covered under their own manufacturers warranty.

Is there a full buyer’s guide?

Yes. We wrote a 17-page guide covering materials, specs and the questions that catch dodgy quotes. It is free and there is no spam.
